As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading engineering team within a business unit and be responsible for regional management of the project execution activities in the area of responsibility. Driving team performance to ensure that safety, integrity, financial and contractual requirements are met, for Robotics & Discrete Automation Business Area in Shanghai, China.
Reporting to the Local Business Line Manager-RAGI-CN, you will initiate and drive continuous improvement activities across teams. Ensuring operations are executed in accordance with company procedures, contract specifications, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, and schedule commitments.
Your responsibilities
- Leading engineering teams which are responsible for a number of products or sector areas and ensuring delivery of a portfolio of projects on time, in full. Providing direction to the teams with a focus on safety, on time delivery, quality and margin improvement.
- Building and maintaining customer relationships, seeking feedback and providing innovative solutions to meet customer requirements and deliver improvements. Providing engineering support during the bid phase, supporting presentation of proposals to customers.
- Leading implementation of continuous improvements for the project execution strategy for the local or regional project operation. Ensuring that the regional/ local portfolio of projects is managed consistently, based on best practices and ABB Policies including Budget, sales and operations planning, project execution and control, projects consistently apply contract and claims management
- Ensuring that engineering teams are adequately resourced, developed and equipped to meet business needs. Conducting regular reviews to ensure that the teams are delivering work according to the customer and ABB requirements
- Creating and implementing plans to ensure that business risks are identified and managed, opportunities maximized. Ensuring that required systems are understood, developed and correctly implemented
- Collaborating with the Supply Chain function to ensure that correct suppliers services and equipment are available to support the engineering execution
- Ensuring (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guiding, motivating, coaching and developing employees reporting directly and indirectly, within HR policies.
- Creating financial plans and budget estimating for unit/business area. Overseeing adherence to these plans and estimates
Your background
- 10 years of working experience in Automation industry and at least 5 years of experience in engineering management or project management
- Broad technical knowledge in engineering industry
- A bachelor’s degree in Automation and Mechanical Engineering
- Fluency in English both in oral and written
- Must have effective analytical and communication skills
- Must possess the ability to provide effective management leadership. Develop and motivate highly diversified employee team
- Must be result orientated and have high degree of desire to achieve objectives
