Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This manager is accountable for Development Engineering aspects of new mechanical and electo-mechanical products and manages all Development Engineers, and dedicated CAD designers, who work on projects. This manager is to accomplish the following:

People:

1. Plan the careers and assignments of the reporting associates with them to the satisfaction of the objectives of the company and of the individual associate.

2. Improve and maintain the image of development engineering at ***** as an effective, efficient and reliable function in the company. Develop efficiency and reliability measurements. Improve and maintain the morale of those in development engineering.

3. Appraise the performance of each reporting Associate, share with Project Manager in many cases and have ultimate authority in hiring, firing and compensation decision (in cooperation with Human Resources).

4. Assist in management and administrative duties for the day to day activities of the Asia Development Center.

5. Create an innovative environment.


Planning:

1. Organize the above mentioned development resources to support the approved projects. Plan the use of these resources with each Project Manager and Technical Team Leader.

2. Cooperate in the mutual setting and implementation of department goals.

3. Plan and maintain budgets as assigned.

4. Plan and execute growth and improvement strategies for the Development Engineering function at the Asia Dev Center including: staffing, training, policies, procedures, equipment and other items as determined by this manager and approved by direct supervisors.

Projects:

1. Assure the engineering integrity of new products by proper attention to: testing, safety, standards, careful documentation of specifications and performance results, planning and communication by the development engineering staff.

2. Assure that development activities on new products are well communicated and understood, and executed in a timely manner as outlined by and other relevant R&D processes and agreed to by the specific Project Teams.

3. Assure complete technical specifications are defined for new products at the appropriate time during the development process. Assure proper documentation of the specifications in the Design Guide, QFD charts (if used), and on part and assembly drawings.

4. Facilitate the use on all new product development projects and appropriate major changes to existing products.

5. Insure the satisfactory completion of development aspects of work contracted by outside firms or suppliers.

6. Participate in all Design Reviews, Safety Reviews and Phase Reviews on all mechanical or electro-mechanical products.

7. Review and approve all test lab reports on mechanical or electro-mechanical products, both new and existing.

8. Assure the proper and efficient design of all components and assemblies in 3D CAD by Engineers and CAD Designers. Assume responsibility for adequate design of product and that these designs are efficiently put into 3D CAD and ultimately are documented correctly on drawings.

9. Resolve the misalignment in the technical specifications among the Project Team members and OEM supplier.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:


1. Accredited Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering

2. 10 years relevant experience in the field of Electrical Appliance Product Engineering and Development

3. 5 years supervising experience of engineering teams on new product development of Electrical Mechanical Appliance Product

4. Strength in engineering fundamentals and technical project management; Demonstrated leadership skills in mentoring and supervision of technical staff

5. Proven success at managing people and projects in multiple locations; Excellent communication skills
