Lead small to medium size project teams with some supervision and assist with portions of larger projects.  Effectively contribute solid technical knowledge to a variety of projects related to product development and life cycle management with minimal assistance. Display basic technical understanding of plastic medical solution container manufacturing. Design and execute routine/non-routine research and design experiments with minimal assistance. With some supervision, lead projects within Baxter’s change control management (CCM) process, from initiation through closure.  Typical change control projects include; qualification of supplier changes (SNC), documentation updates, material changes.  Change Owners must assign and prepare impact assessments, develop change plans, write and execute engineering studies, develop detailed project schedules, while working closely with manufacturing plants, Quality, Regulatory, suppliers, and various scientific/technical groups. Communicate project and task status to project team members, management, and stakeholders on a regular basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This section contains a list of five to eight primary responsibilities of this role that account for 5% or more of the work. The incumbent will perform other duties assigned.

1. Perform standard engineering assignments which are typically a significant portion of a larger project. Select sound techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations under direction of supervisor. Assess results for application, validity and conformance to specifications.

2. Utilize engineering tools to solve straightforward problems (e.g., FMEA, DMAIC Tools, Failure Mode Analysis, Design of Experiments, Statistical Analysis). Perform basic statistical analysis and interpret functional testing results. 

3. Perform risk management related assessments (e.g., Risk Assessment and Control Table, DFMEA)

4. Lead small project teams as needed to accomplish project objectives.

5. With supervisor, formulate and recommend engineering policies and technical work in accordance with project and business objectives.

6. Some travel to manufacturing plants and/or suppliers is required in order to understand manufacturing processes, investigate and resolve product related issues, and study and recommend techniques to improve existing products/processes.

7. Own and manage product/process Change Controls and document changes

8. Provide technical direction to lab technicians.

BS Engineering and 1-3 years related experience

Experience working with flexible plastic solution containers focused around product development and life cycle management

Knowledge of DMAIC, GMP, GDP principles Prefer experience with Risk Management.

Experience designing and performing design verification

Experience with basic statistical principles

Knowledge of DHF management

Experience working within cross-functional teams to implement and/or manage product/process improvement projects.
