Summary:

The Engineer Technical Services reports to the Sr. Director of Global Technical Services.  The Global Services organization strives to deliver an unsurpassed value driven experience that makes Baxter an essential service solutions provider for our customers. Baxter is well positioned to be the best service provider for our customers due to the depth of our product knowledge, years of service expertise, commitment to product serviceability and continued focus on operational excellence. This position is responsible for supporting the engineering team in our Round Lake Technology Park, and will assist with project management for General Technical Service Operations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners closely with cross-functional teams to drive serviceability assessments and financially viable service models throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Creates financial models, including analyzing and structuring complex projects in technical service.
  • Serves as the service key contact for one or more electromechanical medical device core teams, helping to escalate issues and define long term solution.
  • Act independently with minimal supervision to conduct smaller approved projects.
  • Expected to make suggestion on improvements based on recent technical knowledge.
  • Able to contribute to cost estimating of major capital budget items and the spending of approved project funds.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of components of the development process, which apply to product revision or enhancement or a defined piece of a larger project.
  • Ability to manage routine small projects without assistance.
  • Investigate and analyze customer service problems and design improvement suggestions.
  • Recommend design improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Specific experience with execution of change control in regulated and preferably medical electromechanical device environment.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles in various engineering disciplines.
  • Must have Biomedical, and/or healthcare industry experience.
  • Must have initial training in concepts of “Six Sigma” quality techniques. 
  • Must know how to effectively run projects.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organization/prioritization skills.
  • Able and comfortable to work in a virtual environment (TP, conference call, Webex, etc.).
  • Able to work with multicultural and different time zone team members.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
