Generac Power Systems – Work with the leader in the power industry! Our headquarters is in Waukesha, Suzhou Generac Power System in China is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Inverter) for our Engineering team.

THE POSITION:

The Inverter Design Engineer: Core Engineering will lead the design, development and validation of high power inverters that support our diverse product line. This position reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop high power inverters and DC-DC converters.

• Lead projects from concept thru production launch.

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to create application requirements for high power inverter systems.

• Develop system and component level requirements.

• Define reliability and testing requirements.

• Design and develop circuit board level hardware and supervise PCB layout.

• Lead the design and implementation of the thermal management strategy for the power electronics.

• Lead electrical and mechanical integration.

• Conduct risk assessments, FMEAs and design reviews.

• Ensure new products meet agency compliance such as UL, CSA, NEC, CE, FCC, NFPA and EPA.

• Execute and oversee onsite and supplier testing.

• Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize product designs for manufacturability.

• Support product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).

• Act as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers.

• Other duties as assigned.

  Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

• 10 + years of relevant work experience.

• Experience designing and developing high power inverter systems.

• Experience with Matlab Simulink and PSpice.

• Ability to solve complex engineering problems.

• Strong decision-making skills.

• Excellent oral and written communication.

  Additional Skills Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

• Experience with power generation products.

• Communication protocol/ hardware interface knowledge, such as RS485, CAN, Ethernet, USB and WiFi/Bluetooth.
