Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSBILITIES

The primary responsibilities for the Electrical Engineer Intern, are:

 • Assist with existing/new projects in design, equipment selection, installation, checkout, troubleshooting, and start-up phases

 • Develop engineering solutions for day-to-day problems that arise in the plant operations

 • Project development, electrical and instrument hardware selection, electrical control drawing approval, programming controller specifications, software development and training (scope may depend on education level completed)

 • Assist with documentation of the process and equipment to meet compliance with ISO 9002 certification and Process Safety Management regulations

 • Initiate and implement cost and process improvements

 • Exhibit a strong safety ethic through coaching or engineered improvements

 • Support preventative maintenance and equipment reliability programs and other plant wide initiatives

 • Communicate closely with and train, as needed, area operations personnel

 REQUIRED SKILLS

• Students must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Electrical Engineering and have completed their sophomore year by the start of their co-op or internship.

 • Students must return to school upon completion of their term with Bayer to continue their program of study

 • In addition to current enrollment, interns must work at the Soda Springs Idaho site for the duration of the term

 o January - June of 2020 OR

 o May - August of 2020 OR

 o June - December of 2020

 

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

 • Prior Co-op or internship experience is a plus

 • Experience and/or interest in high voltage in an industrial

 environment

 • Strong written and oral communication skills

 • Good problem-solving skills

 • High degree of personal initiative

 • Excellent organizational and planning skills

 • Ability to work well in a team environment and a diverse culture
