We are a 2-year-old underwater robotics start-up with offices in Shenzhen. Our company was founded by HKUST Robotics Team veterans of underwater robotic competitions. We have grown to include mechanical, electronic and software engineers. We operate in a flat company structure and are very passionate about underwater robotics and its real-world applications.

We are looking for a full time Embedded Hardware Engineer qualified to design and make embedded system prototype for specific application. A great candidate of this position has some experience of at least one Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools to design PCBs, familiarity on embedded hardware architecture, and proficiency in creating embedded software for the design he/she made. The goal is to create a working prototype that suit company requirements of manufacturability, testing, performance, and cost.

Example Tasks

• Design circuitry and choose appropriate Integrated Circuit (IC) to meet the requirements of a project
• Design Printed Circuit Board (PCB) based on the circuit design
• Compare different IC from various manufacturer and provide in-depth analysis on component selection
• Create reliable and maintainable embedded software for the system
• Debug and test the prototype
• Provide a working prototype that meets requirements and deadline

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering or above
• Efficient communication of engineering matters in written and spoken English
• 1-2 years prior experience in PCB design
• Familiarity with electronics troubleshooting and debugging process
• Capable of designing a PCB and solder it into functional board
• Familiarity with embedded hardware architecture and the capabilities of different microcontrollers, (e.g. STM32, ATMega)
• Proficiency in embedded C and/or assembly language programming for microcontrollers
• Participated in at least 1 year of robotics competition or other embedded-system-heavy competition
• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving capability

Good-to-have Skills

• Experience in Altium Designer and designing functional PCB
• Effective usage of the version control system, Git
• Experience in FPGA design and implementation
