As an EDP Engineering Manager you will be responsible for supporting the local business area, GSC’s, EDP Projects by directly providing Engineering Support in the areas related to Mechanical Designs, Controls (PLC & HMI) Engineering, Robot Programming, Software and Documentation, in Robotics & Discrete Automation Business Area in Shanghai, China, ensuring implementation of technical reviews as a risk management action to minimize project portfolio risks.

Reporting to the Local Product Group Manager, you will lead the team to deliver solutions on time, securing that the strategic initiatives are taken into account, in a Truly Collaborative Culture.

Your responsibilities

• Implementing and executing EDP Engineering strategy, contributing to develop internal processes, procedures and tools in EDP. Cross collaboration with all EDP Engineering Managers
• Developing the engineering team, ensuring continuous team and personal development, driving engineering efficiency, application industrialization and modularization. Promoting innovation and creativity
• Being accountable for customer satisfaction- quality, delivery time and cost. Reporting actively success stories, improvement, issues and challenges, following-up execution activities
• Refining engineering service portfolio based on Business Unit needs, identifying and reporting future needs. Creating detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by.
• Monitoring and determining various staffing and training needs. Proposing and overseeing budgets and timelines for engineering projects
• Checking and confirming the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff. Communicating and collaborating with other managers, suppliers, and contractors
• Implementing technical reviews as a risk management action to minimize project portfolio risks, reporting and escalating to management as needed. Measuring project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
• Developing a good understanding of the main Robotic Application areas and generating new business expanding the footprint

Your background

• 3+ years of experience in an engineering manager role with sound knowledge of Robotics and its applications/segments. Driving design reviews, risk assessments, and standard engineering analysis tools such as E-Plan, Solid works, and cycle analysis simulations
• Ability to bring customer needs/specification to engineering design, project execution and successful manufacturing, focusing on time delivery, cost competitiveness and quality control
• Knowledge in using CAD tools, 3D model review platforms will be an added advantage
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with a strategic mind-set and technological interest having an experience of 5 years
• Excellent communication skills & intercultural sensitivity. Bi-Lingual (Chinese and English)
• Good analytical skills with attention to detail. Proactive approach towards continuous improvement process
• Open minded and willing to learn with innovation and creativity. Persuasive, encouraging motivating and time flexibility
