ROLE SUMMARY

The Director, Emerging Markets Communications (Emerging Asia & China), Biopharmaceuticals Group will serve as the leader for all strategic regional communications efforts in support of Pfizer’s Biopharmaceuticals Group in Emerging Asia and China. This includes executive support for the Regional Presidents, colleague communications and regional level corporate communications programs that drive business objectives.. The position will also serve as the liaison between Emerging Asia and China’s country communications teams, and Pfizer’s Biopharmaceutical Group.

The position reports to Corporate Affairs Lead, Emerging Markets, Biopharmaceuticals Group.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strategic council and tactical communications support to the Regional Presidents, as well as regional marketing teams and other functions in order to develop regional communications plans aligned with the business vision, mission and key priorities:Incorporate key business priorities in external and internal communications

Ensure alignment with Corporate Affairs (CA) functional areas

Coordinate closely with Media Relations, Corporate Responsibility and other key functions to develop messaging and communications documents for corporate / brand initiatives.

Play a key role to support Media Relations and other functions to ensure coordination within businesses and commercial teams for major corporate and brand issues.

Work across functions in the business and CA to manage proactive and reactive communications.

Evolve and adapt the Emerging Markets Narrative that aligns with the Biopharmaceuticals platform and Pfizer reputation drivers for the region, and support country implementation.

Drive regional initiatives that tell Pfizer’s story externally and shape dialogue on value of innovation, partnering closely with International Public Affairs, Media Relations and other Corporate Affairs functions, in order to boost reputation and recognition.

Coordinate with regional Media Relations and Public Affairs to support reactive communications efforts and develop proactive campaigns to boost recognition and reputation

Product communications—Liaise with global Biopharmaceutical Group communications teams and regional marketing teams to support communications plan/initiatives for priority growth products in line with business unit strategiesLink regional business insights and direction to the work of the product and issues teams working on behalf of the BU.

Provide guidance on key external activities for senior leaders and support content development, collaborating with other Biopharmaceuticals Group communications teams on content related to therapeutic areas of business focus.

Issues management—key member of rapid response team to ensure coordination within business.

Support communications for business development and partner announcements.

Support country communicator efforts to communicate data presentations, product launches, regulatory milestones

Manage PR agencies and budgets.

Work with the Emerging Markets Corporate Affairs team to determine key comms vehicles needed to support Biopharmaceutical s Group business objectives and advance Patients First culture.

Develop and execute the internal colleague communications plan for the region that aligns countries and therapeutic categories and excites and inspires colleagues.

Coordinate with Country Communications leads to ensure alignment of their efforts with the priorities of the Emerging Markets business, provide support where appropriate and share best practices for greater efficiency

Provide direction on all internal communications requirements, including memos, presentations, webcasts, town halls.

Work with regional media relations team members to coordinate and provide strategic counsel for targeted media outreach on proactive and reactive issuesPartner with team to identify key business executives spokespersons

facilitate media training

Collaborate with Media Relations on press releases, standby statements, Q&As, key message documents with media team members

Coordinate with the UpJohn Communications team.

Ensure that country initiatives are aligned with policy, legal and regulatory requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Capability requirements:

Bachelors degree required, preferably in communications, English or related field.

14 years of experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering communications strategies and plans in a large, complex organization

Scientific knowledge/background.

Solid external/internal communications experience

Strong issues management skills and experience

Strategic thinking and strong leadership skills

Strong ability to work effectively across functions and levels

proven collaborator

Experience managing teams

virtual team management a plus

Excellent written and oral communications skills

Ability to counsel and interface successfully with senior executives

Understanding about how to effectively use communications to influence internal and external audiences.

Able to align andintegrate communications strategy with business strategy

Ability to research, develop, deliver and measure communications strategies and plans

Very strong business acumen

Ability to assimilate strategic information and convert it into clear and concise messages that colleagues can understand

Expertise in communications concepts, practices, strategies and tactics based on understanding of key audiences and corporate objectives

Able to work to tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at once and maintain professionalism under pressure

Strong analytical, planning, attention to detail, and prioritizing skills

A drive for results and ability to achieve results through teams, exerting influence without direct authority

Proactive, self-starter, and able to work independently

Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with confidence with various levels and functions

Based in NYHQ

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree preferred.

Experience in healthcare/pharma sector strongly preferred

Media relations and regional communications experience a plus
