GROUP/DIVISION SUMMARY
This leadership position is responsible for the Data and Analytics strategy and execution across the Instrument and Enterprise Services division (IES). IES provides a single source for integrated lab service, support and supply management. Our customized service offerings and world-class service experts have the flexibility and experience to uniquely address your business needs. POSITION SUMMARY
As the Director of Data Science & Analytics, your strategic responsibilities will include building and expanding key foundational capabilities including data quality, data architecture and data insights. Operational responsibilities include sustaining and continuously improving key service reporting for business performance management, improvement and decision making.

Strategic responsibilities:
  • Build a strategy and execute a road map for scalable data infrastructure and analytical insights including:
  • Data enablement: data quality, architecture, algorithms, visualization, science
  • Business enablement: Resourcing (skills), functional partnerships (IT, business) , processes (Agile, scrum)
  • Connect and expand cross functional analytical teams through a centralized community of practice across the division. Unleash the power of data in some of the areas highlighted below in support of the division strategy and vision:
    • Service delivery – Remote and on-site service delivery KPI’s
    • Marketing – revenue generating and new service opportunities
    • Sales – install base, lead generation, sales play opportunities
    • Instrument Health program – device data, predictive analytics
    • Enterprise Services – install base, service history, customer dashboards and tools
    • Finance – operational performance correlation to financial outcomes
Operational responsibilities:
  • Execute accurate, timely Service KPI delivery and routine business reporting
  • Build, maintain and continuously improve business visualization dashboards
  • Support data and analytical requirements for business projects and work streams
  • Prioritize and support Ad hoc analysis to answer business questions as they arise
  • Partner with field and technical services leaders to understand trends, root cause, countermeasures and improvement
  • Proactively identify business improvement and innovation opportunities through data and analyses (Improved Customer Experience, Productivity, Growth)
  • Execute Customer Allegiance survey deployment, reporting, analyses and insights
Leadership and people management responsibilities:
  • Drive strong communication, partnerships and stakeholder management with senior leaders, front line managers and supervisors
  • Build and sustain strong working partnership with IT leaders and functions
  • Work across leadership to prioritize projects for maximum impact
  • Continuously develop, build and scale data and analytical talent
  • Champion data transformation from legacy mindset to new ways of working and uncovering insights
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field; an MBA or equivalent consulting / working experience is strongly preferred, services background preferred
  • Experience in the Life Science Industry preferred, including a background in operations, business development and data & analytics
  • Data analysis leadership experience using “Standard” methods. Examples: Regression Analysis, Clustering Analysis, Dimensionality Reduction Analysis
  • Experience working with data science languages R, Python, SQL
  • Experience working in a multinational company with demonstrated ability to lead effectively and drive results in a matrixed management operating environment
  • Experience directly managing a team of colleagues
  • Excellent strategy, planning and execution skills with proven ability to drive results
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills plus demonstrate strong leadership capabilities
  • Highly developed commercial and business acumen; an ability to recognize growth and profitability opportunities and capitalize on them
  • Ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw correct conclusions and formulate clear strategy and policies
  • High energy level with ability to embrace and model the Thermo Fisher Scientific values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement
  • Experience and comfort with strategy deployment tools and utilizing PPI, Lean, 6-sigma, or similar tools to drive operational and business improvements within a commercial organization
