Detailed Description:
Work requires application of in-depth knowledge of professional standards and precedents in area of specialty. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires and in-depth evaluation of various factors. Incumbents are accountable for quality of work delivered by external suppliers as applicable. Incumbents have decision-making authority and autonomy to deliver on goals of team. Influences others outside of team to ensure goals are met and resolves conflicts in an effective manner. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and serious delays in overall schedules of a site and/or regional function. May lead a multi-functional work group or project team consisting of one or more support staff and/or tech/professional staff, or may provide advice and guidance in area of specialty. May determine new methods and procedures. Seeks out new avenues for building internal and external relationships; maintains contacts with existing relationships. Interfaces with senior managers on issues related to the area of expertise. Interacts with and influences management and/or customers on significant issues.
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Selects the technical approach, executes design development, provides engineering/technical analysis of designs, finds solutions to non-routine design and development requirements. Performs actual circuit design, simulations including statistical analysis of the proposed solution, and implements design within the process. Actively participates in design reviews and offers technical advice and feedback to the customers’ technical staff to develop product requirements. Participates in project planning and scheduling. Acts as the primary pre-production technical contact with the customer. Provides direction in the specification, design analysis, architecture, algorithm design, selection and deployment of strategic applications for the manufacturing area. Draws on thorough knowledge of business processes, systems architecture and technological capabilities to analyze tradeoffs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Coordinates with the corporate office to ensure the final product specifications meet future business requirements. Develops deployment strategies and plans. Leads the deployment of strategic programs and coordinates site-wide deployment efforts. Manages the relationship with the vendor for features, support escalations and future product direction. May provide sole infrastructure (Unix / NT) support for smaller site.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
  • Engineering Foundation Competencies
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the design process for systems and printed circuit boards, subassemblies, or other related company products.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for systems and printed circuit boards and subassemblies.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry and quality standards and SPC methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials and components used in the construction of systems and printed circuit boards and Subassemblies.
  • In-depth knowledge of material science, robotics, machine programming.
  • In-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts and contract negotiations.
  • In-depth knowledge of design engineering (e.g., analog circuit design, digital circuit design, digital integrated circuit design, etc.) for systems and printed circuit boards.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT platforms, database design and programming languages.
  • Knowledge of computer programming and ability to use applications specific to this position, such as C++, ECAD, MCAD, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and SCM/Logistics information processes.
  • Excellent customer contact, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
