In this role, you will:
Based on the business plan of the company and the investment environment, Deputy CIO will assist the CEO and CIO of HSBC Life Insurance China to formulate and implement the company's long term investment strategy, maintain and enhance investment governance process and has a focus on portfolio management process and new investment capabilities. He/she will also deputize for CIO to provide the leadership for the investment team of HSBC Life Insurance China and actively network with the local and international industry to be informed on the market developments.
The jobholder will deputize to take responsibility of the formation and management of the investment function. He/She is granted with investment authority up to certain amount. He/She is required to deal with all issues arising from the normal course of work independently and to consult the CEO and CIO for special issues.
Mandarin proficiency, international professional experience, strategic thinking, technical competence in portfolio management and credit research, and independent judgment are important for this position since it is expected that the jobholder can take the responsibility of managing a function. He/She is also required to provide guidance to his/her supporting staff and colleagues during the normal course of work. As a key member of the investment team, he/she will demonstrate business acumen and support HSBC's long term growth plan in China.
Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, and optimizing relations with regulators.
The jobholder is responsible for managing the insurance funds of HSBC Life Insurance China, a nationwide insurance company set up in 2009. The investment team under the management of the jobholder will include a team of investment managers and dealers.
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Post-graduate university degree and over ten to fifteen years of investment professional work experience
- Professional experience in buy
- side portfolio management, credit research, risk management in the international and developed markets such as US, Europe, Hong Kong and Singapore.
- Excellent communication and presentation skill in both English and Mandarin
- Possess extensive knowledge in China market, in particular credit and fixed income market.
- Possess board-based knowledge of the Group's insurance business and investment management model
- Possess strategic thinking and business acumen
- Excellent stakeholder skills
- Courageous leadership able to lead, inspire and develop the team
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
– able to make business aligned and timely decisions
