DESCRIPTION
As Data Scientist, you will provide technical expertise and driving projects related to capitalizing on the significant wealth of data generated from our DNA Encoded Library technology platform (DEL). In this role you will work on several projects focused on building data pipelines, streamlining the analysis data associated with applying the DEL platform for discovering small molecule drug candidates.
You will be expected to become a key driver in making DEL data actionable across Amgen small molecule research and will be working with chemists, biologists, and data scientists.
You will be expected to tackle complex data science challenges and proactively drive new ideas forward, formulating opinions and convince stakeholders to accept new concepts and practices within data analysis.
This is a newly created position established to support the acceleration of digital innovation at Amgen Research Copenhagen and bridging with research departments located in Denmark, US and Germany, there will be possibility to shape job tasks and personal development in this new role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build data curation and analysis workflows for the DEL screening platform, supporting building and scaling of our machine learning pipeline. This encompasses curation of data generated by screening assays, biological activity, chemical analytical measurements and in silico generated data.
- Collaborate with Drug Discovery teams to improve data analysis and deliver actionable intelligence to optimize drug development candidates.
- Work with biologists, chemists, and data scientists to develop automated data analysis workflows increasing overall productivity.
- Continuously explore new approaches in small molecule drug discovery data analysis and share best practices within Amgen Research Data Science groups.
QUALIFICATONS
Skills and Experience
- PhD degree or equivalent in Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field with at least 2 years of experience is required.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms such as Symbolic Regression, Random Forest, SVM, neural networks, Auto-Encoders etc.
- Knowledge with statistical software packages.
- Good knowledge of Python programming skills including frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, RDKit. Knowledge of Jupyter notebooks, Pipeline Pilot/Knime is beneficial.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills is required.
- Experience from working with data science in a pharma/biotech setting is a plus.
