The Data Scientist or Financial Engineer will be based in Hangzhou, China and work with other Cognitive agile team members through the phases of use-case data exploration and prototyping to the design, implementation and deployment of the resulting Cognitive services supporting the use-case.

Responsibilities:

• Work with a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, financial modelers, software engineers, and model validation/QA engineers.
• Engage with users and analysts to explore and prototype opportunities and use-cases exploring data and the application of cognitive and machine learning technologies
• Build automated data collection and pre-processing and post-processing pipelines
• Build models and algorithms to address business problems and perform model validation
• Support IT integration, QA/UAT and deployment of Cognitive micro services, operationalizing and productizing resulting models and cognitive solutions

Qualifications:

• Master degree required (preferably in computer science, mathematical finance, and financial engineering), PhD preferred
• Strong background in mathematics including but not limited to statistics, probabilities, linear algebra, stochastic process, calculus, differential equations etc.
• Conceptual understanding of major financial instruments, reference data, market data, investment and risk management concepts
• 3+ years of modern, object-oriented or functional programming experience, (C++, Python, Java, SQL, R)

Experience in any of the following is highly desirable:

• Prior financial modeling and model validation experience
• Data Science and Machine Learning Frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Apache Spark / MLlib, “R”, etc.)
• Linux / Bash scripting, relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
• Continuous integration & development environments and tools (GIT, Maven, Jenkins, etc.)
• Communication skills. The ability to communicate at the right level with all parties involved, including management and business stakeholders
