What You'll Do

Enstoa’s quantitative analytics squad is looking for a new team member: a candidate with a strong foundation in mathematical modelling and experience and knowledge leveraging common statistical and machine learning techniques.

As part of the Strategy & Consulting division at Enstoa, you will work with client-facing teams in a hybrid quantitative role that leverages both your machine learning and applied mathematical skills. You will be tasked with developing best-in-class automated processes and artificial intelligence solutions. You will be helping extract value from data and bring artificial intelligence to life into the capital projects realm. Part of your time will be spent leveraging your analytical talent to extract valuable insights from data in the Oil & Gas, Energy & Resources, Healthcare, Real Estate, and/or Power & Utilities industries. The remainder of your time will be spent designing, prototyping, and productizing a suite of custom algorithmic solutions to automate and drive efficiencies in complex capital projects processes. The position involves significant research & development and proof-of-concept product development.

You will perform these roles by:

• Developing automated systems and artificial intelligence solutions that support efficiency and drive innovation in construction and construction management (including 3D and virtual design)
• Defining and developing automated computational solutions (including proprietary algorithms) to clients’ problems
• Optimizing capital projects systems and processes within a mathematical framework to support automation and AI
• Machine learning and AI research and development; developing proof-of-concept solutions and feasibility analyses of proposed AI solutions
• Profiling, formatting, and cleaning data
• Leveraging statistical and machine learning techniques for trend identification and predictive analysis
• Visualizing data and creating dashboards to communicate results

What Experience You’ll Have

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Decision/Management Science, Physics, Finance, Business, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution is required.

You’ll have at least two (2) years of experience in a quantitative or analytical role. Construction industry or consulting experience is beneficial but not required.

Experience working with large, real-world data sets is vital, as is proficiency in the mathematical modelling of complex real-world phenomena. Experience with linear and/or integer programming is desirable but not required. Relevant experience with quantitative programming languages (i.e., C, C#, Python, R, MATLAB, Stata, SAS, etc.), database queries, data modeling, and visualization tools is beneficial.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Innovating, wherever possible, the systems and processes in the delivery and execution of capital projects
• Developing custom proprietary analytic and algorithmic solutions
• Developing and productizing proprietary mathematical optimization solutions
• Participating in numerous aspects of a consulting engagement including field work, data collection, and data analysis
• Data profiling and statistical and machine learning analysis
• Distilling complex and often highly technical concepts into clear and concise summaries for client consumption
• Developing visualizations for consumption by business users
• Working closely, but independently, under the direction of Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents
• Assisting in the interviewing process for prospective future Enstoa employees
• Developing and deploying/presenting training courses/modules to internal staff

What Skills and Knowledge You’ll Have

• A strong quantitative/mathematical grounding. At least the ability to develop multivariate optimization models
• Good understanding of the most common data analytics platforms and techniques
• Experience with at least one quantitative programming language
• Interest in analyzing complex data sets and building visualizations to assist with analyses
• Highly adaptive, comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, consulting environment
• Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives
• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Quantitative/mathematical background - must be comfortable reading and writing mathematical notation and developing mathematical models of real-world phenomena (can be from schoolwork)
• Comfort with the language and techniques of mathematical optimization (can be from schoolwork)
• Useful terms: multivariate optimization, discrete optimization, linear programming, integer programming, mixed integer programming, quadratic programming, simplex algorithm, branch and bound
• Familiarity with standard statistical machine learning techniques, including their common use cases
• Useful terms: regression, classification, prediction, clustering, random forests, neural networks, data science, gradient boosting, deep learning, reinforcement learning
• Basic proficiency in at least one quantitative programming language (i.e., C, C#, Python, R, MATLAB, Stata, SAS, etc.)
• Desire and ability to travel to client sites (both domestically in the US and overseas) as needed
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Mandarin is a must (speak, read, write, translate)
• Must speak and write English on a professional level
