PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 

About the team: Board Area Technology & Innovation and SAP HANA Infrastructure Team

Technology & Innovation (T&I) is responsible for SAP’s overall platform and technology development such as SAP Cloud Platform and SAP HANA. In addition, T&I drives the incubation and adoption of intelligent technologies like Analytics, SAP Leonardo Machine Learning and IoT across SAP’s product portfolio. The T&I board area is also in charge of SAP’s global innovation agenda and builds new business model- and market driven innovations to help customers realize the most business value.

 

Our HANA Infrastructure Team oversees construction and operation of a stable productive environment for our fully automated development process. Backed by a datacenter full of high-end servers the team facilitates more than simply Continuous Integration. The team does state-of-the-art C++ development based on Open Source components like Linux, Git, Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes, CMake and Python that have proven to be a solid base for large scale development environments.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
 

As a Global Key Customer Scenario Engineer you ensure best-in-class quality for SAP’s key customers by transforming their business-critical workload into HANA customer scenarios. You combine your quality engineering expertise with customer scenarios to test and evaluate existing features and new innovations to ensure SAP Key Customer’s success. As part of the Quality Assurance team, you conduct technical analysis and handle internal and external communication.

 

Topics include:

  • HANA Customer scenario: test & evaluation
    Expect to integrate SAP HANA customer scenarios into the SAP HANA CI infrastructure.
  • HANA Customer scenario: Innovation testing
    Expect to extend SAP HANA customer scenarios in order to make use of latest features and provide valuable feedback based on your testing.

 

 In your daily work you can expect to…

  • Analyze complex problems coming from complex customers scenarios and new SAP internal stakeholders related to database engine and SAP HANA platform
  • Create functional tests, performance tests, scalability tests et al for complex customer scenarios
  • Align customer requirements based on customer scenarios in close collaboration with SAP HANA development
  • Analyze feature completeness, performance and scalability of the SAP HANA database
  • Communicate issues to stakeholders and HANA development
  • Continuously evaluate & improve supportability features and documentation

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills

  • Master’s degree in computer science or Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of working experience with proven track record in software development or quality assurance
  • Good knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Proficient with at least one programming languages (e.g. Python, C++/C, Java)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Ability to work well in close teamwork across international locations
  • Fluent English both spoken and written

 

A plus will be experience with

  • Good LINUX skills
  • C++ Debuggers (like GDB) or profiling tools
  • Knowledge in Git, Gerrit, Jenkins
  • Knowledge of SAP Applications (e.g. BW, S/4 HANA)
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Software Testing
