Job Description

Duties
The developer will be responsible for preparing teaching materials and assessment tasks for the following 5-credit face-to-face undergraduate course:

ENGL E102F

Effective Use of English II

 
This course aims to: 
  • enhance students’ knowledge of the English language in both academic and vocational contexts;
  • improve students’ language and communication skills in using English for study, social and work purposes; and
  • develop students’ abilities to reflect on their learning and use of English.

The developer is expected to write and design teaching materials to be delivered in the face-to-face lectures and assessment tasks of the course. Sample topics of such include:

  • Summarizing, paraphrasing, and attributing ideas from academic sources
  • Building academic vocabulary and grammar through listening
  • Writing academic essays
  • Preparing and delivering effective academic presentations
  • Employing rhetorical devices to engage audiences and reinforce key points


Requirements
Applicants are expected to possess the following:

  • a postgraduate degree, preferably with professional and research experiences, in Applied English linguistics, English language education, and/or other related disciplines;
  • excellent command of written English; and
  • effective communication skills and the ability to work independently

Terms of Appointment
Successful candidate will be appointed on a freelance basis.
