Counselling Assistant (carrying the job title of ‘Student Guidance Officer, SCS’)

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUSCS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, founded in 1965, is a self-financing unit with the mission to provide quality lifelong education to the community. The School offers a wide variety of courses and programmes in diversified disciplines at Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and Tseung Kwan O Learning Centres. CUSCS now invites applications for the post of Student Guidance Officer to provide counselling and support to the whole person development of full-time students at the Student Counselling and Development Services Section (SCDS) of the School.
The appointee will (a) provide individual guidance and counselling services to students; (b) design and conduct career development, facilitation and training programmes; (c) assist in mass programmes, industrial mentorship and other student development activities; (d) provide consultation for student organisations; and (e) liaise with families and allied professionals on the promotion of whole person education.
Applicants should have/be (i) a good Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, School Guidance or Social Work; (ii) trained in the field of counselling, educational counselling or clinical psychology; (iii) relevant work experience serving tertiary level students; and (iv) fluency in both written and spoken Chinese (including Putonghua) and English. Certified Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) and/or Certified Counsellor (CCoun) from the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association is/are preferred. Shortlisted candidates will be required to sit for a written test.
Appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for up to 2 years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
