Job Description
To develop and manage corporate communication programs to industry-leading standards to build and protect Ford's corporate reputation and brand positioning in China in support of Ford's business objectives in the market, working closely with the communications teams at Ford JVs and affiliated entities in China to ensure alignment and synergy.

Position Responsibilities
Corporate Communications/Integrated Communications
  • To develop strategic and creative corporate communications plans and manage execution of programs to class-leading standards in support Ford's accelerated business growth objectives in the market, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders within Ford and Ford JVs ensure alignment and synergy
  • To aggressively tell Ford corporate stories to business/financial and automotive media, leveraging and aligning resources/opportunities from other Ford China communication teams and JV/affiliate teams;
  • To develop Ford China events calendar to ensure a rich and steady story pipeline throughout the year and to maximize coverage of positive Ford stories in target media;
  • To manage third-party vendors/communication agencies (if any) to ensure high quality in deliverables and cost efficiency;
  • To build and maintain a close relationship with media, working closely with national media relations leader
Issues Crisis Communications
  • To develop and manage issues and crisis management process while monitoring media for potential issues and crisis to ensure the team's rapid awareness and response in the event of any issues or crisis per agreed issues/crisis management process;
  • To draft, manage and archive position statements related to any major issues and crises.
  • Serve as media interface as needed for key issues and crisis response.
  • To serve a key contact for the team for global and local product recalls, working closely with a cross-functional team to develop messaging and monitor related traditional and social media conversations.
Key Stakeholder Relationship Building and Management
  • To help id, build and manage relationships with key industry analysts, economists and other influencers to ensure Ford can tap into these relationships to enhance our corporate reputation and minimize/prevent negative publicity in the event of a crisis;
  • To build and manage media relations in Eastern China on a daily basis, working with Ford China media relations manager.
Corporate Archives Management
  • To centrally manage Ford China corporate archives and assets, press releases/kits, annual communication plans, printed materials, videos, clipping reports, distribution lists, meeting minutes and other important documents in both digital and hard copy formats, wherever possible to ensure accuracy as well as easy access by the team.

Area of professional exposure (technical skills)
  • Experienced Media Relations Professional with established relationships and experience meeting the multi-media requirements from broadcast, print, and digital media.
  • Excellent English-language copywriter/editor
  • Excellent Chinese-language copywriter/editor, native-level Chinese preferred.
  • Several years’ experience as an editor/writer working in a large, complex multinational or news environment.
  • Consultancy or PR agency background preferred.

Functional skills
  • Strong Chinese and English Language writing skills
  • Market/Product/Ford knowledge: Understanding of China's auto market, company's strategy, product lineup and ability to quickly get up to speed on Ford’s China growth story.
