What to expect:

The Consultant is responsible for maintaining surveillance of industry, market, products, technology and competitive conditions in a designated area. To facilitate expert status, the Consultant must maintain excellent ties to a variety of peer leaders among end users and academic circles, and build strong industry connections.

A typical day may involve:

• Conduct Secondary Desk Research (SDR): Keeping apprised of developments in the IVD industry through continuous surveillance of scientific literature, company reports, medical publications, and other public domain information
• Conduct industry calls to gather insights on the China IVD Market: Building and maintaining a contact network across IVD industry personnel (i.e. companies, manufacturers, distributors), IVD laboratories (i.e., IVD product end users), health care providers, regulatory/ government personnel related to the IVD business, university/clinical research personnel, etc. Candidate will be expected to have their own, established industry network in place
• Build and maintain market models: Size/quantify the IVD market across a wide range of segments and competitors (and provide the necessary back-up and assumptions supporting the estimates) through the use of excel models. Metrics of focus include: revenue by segment, instrument placements/shipments, active instrument installed base, revenue by analyte segment, etc.
• Responsible for generating written reports summarizing market events, with a focus on competitor trends, market dynamics, local and national initiatives, forecast assumptions, etc. All reports to be written in English.

Our ideal candidate: Essential experience

• 3 or more years relevant experience either in consulting with module leader experience or strong business acumen from industry
• Prior experience or avid interest in the healthcare and life science industries. Especially in IVD industry with Marketing & Sales area, specific in Market sizing, market researcher & Modelling projects.
• Adaptability and an ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge
• Works willingly and effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals
• Knowledge and understanding of the fundamental processes of business, their interaction, and the impact of external/internal influences on decision making, growth and decline
• Knowledge of consulting methods, tools and techniques, related to one’s functional area
• Knowledge of current events and developments within an industry and major competitors
• Knowledge and understanding of the marketplace. Knowledge of professional/trade associations, key people and companies. Effective time management skills
