Job Description

The Microsoft HoloLens System Team continues to innovate and develop ground-breaking augmented reality devices and innovative technology across computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and image and video processing, networking and graphics. This role will be part of the System Program Management team that drives technology development, product design, product development, and organizational excellence to deliver world class products.

 

We are seeking a Component Engineer to join our team.  The candidate will join the Hardware Program Management team and be responsible for providing Component Engineering services to the functional engineering teams.  As a Component Engineer, you will own the selection and testing of components to ensure they meet specifications for quality and performance.  This role requires a technical background to achieve effective and long-life component cycle solutions.  Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineering teams to select electrical components for new projects, including but not limited to, resistors, capacitors, all passive components, integrated circuits, connectors, cables, etc.
  • Work with the CAD library team to create schematic symbols and component footprints
  • Test components against requirements
  • Provide engineering support for component risk assessments for new designs
  • Offering solutions for 2nd sourcing of components
  • Component and BOM Management through PDM Systems such as ONEPDM 
  • Ability to create part numbers quickly and efficiently
  • Submittal of ECO’s, ECN’s, maintain component life cycle
  • BOM comparisons for accuracy of part selections

Ability to respond to engineering design and change requests quickly and efficiently

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience as component engineer or equivalent
  • Requires basic understanding of design and manufacturing of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Requires experience in PDM Management such as ONEPDM or equivalent

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
