Job Title: Commercial Director, Nucleic Acid Therapeutics

How will you make an impact?

The Commercial Director is responsible for leading and developing a comprehensive commercial strategy, profitability objectives and achieving sales results for the global Nucleic Acid Therapeutics business segment. Implementation of robust forecasting, sales processes along with hiring, retaining, and developing key talent are vital. Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with our customers and channel partners in close association with all functions will drive customer value and satisfaction.

The Commercial Director will provide cross divisional commercial leadership for Nucleic Acid Therapeutics. This role will lead and manage the activities of the Nucleic Acid Therapeutics business development team, while aligning with the global Commercial team to drive growth, including TSS teams in other geographies, Channels, Product Management and Market Development. Actively participate on the business segment leadership team and provide insights that inform both the near-term and longer-term strategy of the business.

What will you do?

  • As Commercial Director, the position will be responsible for driving product and services adoption and attaining global revenue growth targets and partnering with regional commercial teams to support key growth initiatives.
  • Drive connection and engagement with the broader commercial teams, divisions and businesses to enhance the customer experience.
  • Provide timely feedback to Marketing and other Business Unit partners to drive productive marketing and lead generation programs, relevant sales collateral, and application development that best serves growth objectives and enables Nucleic Acid Therapeutics to win in the market.
  • Monitor market and keep abreast of competition; evaluate market conditions and adjust sales strategy as required. Contribute to both the near-term and longer-term strategy development for the business.
  • Work with R&D, Product Management and Global Market Development to coordinate execution of NPI, events, customer-training courses and other related sales generation activities that showcase Nucleic Acid Therapeutics products and accelerate new customer acquisition.
  • Coordinate input to the business from the field team to identify key opinion leaders, identify key industry partnerships, provide feedback regarding existing and new technologies, and relevant customer applications.
  • Hire, motivate, develop, and retain staff to build and maintain a strong commercial organization. Provide leadership, coaching and feedback to direct reports. Continually evaluate individual skills, strengths and opportunities for growth.
  • Partner with internal colleagues in finance and operations to provide timely and accurate tracking, forecasting and analysis of the business. Develop strategies, processes and metrics to lead the Nucleic Acid Therapeutics commercial team. Provide solid management of the Commercial P&L, including responsible opex management.

Nature and Scope:

This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel requiring the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing regarding product technologies and sales strategy, and to influence audiences in support of that strategy. Effectiveness in this role requires knowledge of the Nucleic Acid Therapeutics market and the scientific trends affecting Nucleic Acid Therapeutics development, as well as the ability to recognize new opportunities. The incumbent must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor toward the job, the Company and their work team. The role will require 50-75% travel.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree in, Molecular Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry preferred.
  • Must have strong management skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effective influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to see new business opportunities, set and meet aggressive revenue growth objectives, and develop strong working relationships across the business.
  • Eight years sales experience and five years of successful sales management experience in the life science or related industry strongly preferred.
  • Customer liaison experience with demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or public speaking is preferred.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing / bioprocessing highly desirable .
