Summary: The U.S. Mission in Beijing is seeking an eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Commercial Assistant.
Work schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time after receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties:
The Commercial Assistant acts as an industry assistant and executive assistant to the Industry Team Leader and for a team of up to 8 people for all Commercial Service (CS) programs. Assists in planning, organizing and implementing trade events as well as contributing to company visits and services. Conducts preliminary research for Initial Market Check (IMCs), the International Company Profile (ICPs) and Single Company Promotions (SCPs). Assists with market research, drafts presentations and reports and provides basic counseling and business assistance to U.S. Foreign Commercial Service (USFCS) clients. Oversees and conducts programs to promote the export of U.S. products and services. Identifies and contacts appropriate decision makers in industry and government offices with the goal of making business matches or collecting market research on behalf of U.S. client firms. Serves as back-up to commercial specialists. The Commercial Assistant also serves as the office manager for the team by coordinating meeting schedules for incoming visitors, the office transportation schedule and all office meetings and gatherings. In addition, the Commercial Assistant works with key contacts and organizations to organize meetings, events, receptions and briefings. The Commercial Assistant also develops and maintains the team’s budget including tracking revenue generation and linking revenue generation to expenditure requirements. Acts as a "super user" for the client management database.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Education: Two years of college or university studies is required.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in business, government or NGOs in the fields of marketing, trade promotion, economics or international trade is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have good working knowledge of administrative and office procedures. A good basic knowledge of local business practices, trade practices, restrictions, organizations and customs; marketing and sales techniques is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking in English is required. (This will be tested.)
Level IV (Fluent) reading/writing/speaking in Chinese is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good computer skills to use Office Software such as Word, Excel, Power Point etc. Basic research and analytical skills. Numerical skills. Data manipulation (e.g. promotional campaigns, mailing lists, key contact lists). Ability to deal with all levels of Chinese and U.S. government and
business representatives and their staff from China and U.S. with tact and efficiency.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
