POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide a variety of medical translation services from Chinese to English and English to Chinese at Jiahui Health.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Translate a range of patient medical records and support the translators in the Translation Center when necessary translating documents for Jiahui International Cancer Center, marketing, business development, policies, HR, nursing, medical affairs, IT, administration, and other departments.

Ensure that information is translated with a high degree of accuracy and consistency, following a process, and adhering to ethical practices.

Thoroughly review documents translated by peers, fixing errors of different types before delivery.

Communicate efficiently and effectively with applicants, experts, and peers to ensure that high levels of quality are attained.

Maintain accurate daily records on all requests for service. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within database.

Create glossaries on medical terminology.

Participate in translation services during non-business hours and business hours as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Able to complete other tasks assigned by department manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Native Chinese speaker (mainland China) with excellent English skills.

Good knowledge of medicine, medical terminology, and medical concepts, both in English & Chinese, including complex clinical cases and medical shorthand.

Excellent writing skills, using appropriate words, correct grammar, expression, punctuation, and spelling.

Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English to convey ideas, facts, and information effectively and accurately.

Ability to work as an effective member of a dedicated team. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of service needs.

Familiarity with ethics of the translation profession.

Meticulous approach to detail, maintaining high quality standards and consistency in style and usage.

Rigorous and uncompromising standards on confidentiality and handling of sensitive information.

Well-organized and self-directed.

Experience working with style guides.

Passion for written translation.

DECISION-MAKING and ANALYTICAL SKILLS:

Requires critical thinking and essential analytical skills

EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE:

Proficient in Windows and MS Office.

Experience using CAT tools highly desirable.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably medical-related or in health science.

Experience in healthcare field preferred.

At least three years full time experience as a document translator.

Translation certificate preferred (CMI, CATTI, NAATI, etc.)
