The Juilliard School (Juilliard) is a world renowned, global performing arts conservatory and institution of higher learning located on the campus of Lincoln Center in New York and in Tianjin, China (The Tianjin Juilliard School). The core business of Juilliard is to provide world class instruction in music, drama and dance to a diverse student body at the pre-undergraduate, undergraduate and graduate levels. The Chief of Staff serves as a member of the Senior Staff and works closely with the executive leadership (Chancellor, CEO/ED, Dean/AD) on strategic planning, policy, programming, operations, personnel and administration matters. The Chief of Staff also works closely with members of the Tianjin Juilliard’s NY-based staff and serves as a liaison with the Board of Directors.
Primary Responsibilities:
1,Act as a conduit for the Executive Offices of the Chancellor, CEO & Executive Director, and the Artistic Director and Dean.
2,Seamlessly connect the dots between people and projects, build consensus and unite people towards accomplishing a unified goal.
3,Triage and respond to requests, interface with faculty members, colleagues, students and Board members when necessary.
4,Assume a leadership role to develop action plans for identified key projects and facilitate their implementation.
5,Strengthen the relationship with existing government partners and developing new relationships throughout the government leadership in Binhai, Tianjin, and China.
6, Serve as liaison with Board of Directors and provide coordination/support as needed for Board meetings and travel.
7,Support TJS HR department in candidate searches, development of written policies, and on-boarding of staff.
8,Work with assistants to CEO/ED and Dean/AD (and Chancellor when appropriate) to identify weekly priorities so that calendars reflects those needs.
9,Work with assistants to prepare and/or coordinate briefings for CEO and Dean/AD as needed for meetings with various constituents.
10,Attend meetings as notetaker/representative as delegated or requested.
11,Oversee high-level internal communication coming from Executive offices and assist with external communications as requested.
12,Any other duties as assigned by management.
Professional Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or disciplines related.
- At least 8 years of administration management.
- No less than five years of project management experience is a must, preferably in international education environment or performing arts industry.
- Government relations in Binhai, Tianjin, Beijing and China.
- Demonstrated sophistication in problem solving.
- Capability in communicating with various parties and deal with complex situation.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in both Chinese and English.
