Summary:       

Incumbents will take an Assessment and will undergo a panel interview from top Purchasing leaders to insure competency.  They will be responsible for Buying the Company’s top 80% of Spend Components.  They will collaborate with the Planning team in aligning the consumption to the demand loaded in MRP to drive a DOS equal to or better than 11 days.  First full level of specialization; applies expertise in more than one area of specialization. Work is performed within established professional standards, established policy, and/or established objectives. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Incumbents are accountable for quality of work delivered by external suppliers as applicable. May influence others outside of team to ensure goals are met and resolves conflicts in an effective manner. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the site’s/major function's operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Receives guidance primarily on unique, unusual, or controversial problems or questions. May lead a work group or project team consisting of one or more support staff and/or tech/professional staff with some coaching from own supervisor, or may provide advice and guidance in area of specialty. Seeks out new avenues for building internal and external relationships; maintains contacts with existing relationships.  Effectively utilizes the Escalation process when encountering obstacles they cannot resolve.

 

Detailed Description:  

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • This role is geared to the SCM needs of Company’s Super A Class Parts, that either is linked to many Celestica sites and/or has a mix of both Box and PCBA production.
  • Responsible for driving DOS to 11 Days or less for all Celestica’s Super A Class Parts through activities such as MRP Execution, Supplier Flexibility strategies and dispositioning Excess and Obsolete
  • The responsibilities span the supply chain including the Supplier, material flow, parts of Planning and some Customer interface.
  • Works with Demand Planning in aligning the Customer Forecast to actual Demand
  • Is a key contact for the Customer and other Sites that serve the Customer as it relates to material supply strategies. Leads the design, development and implementation of key SCM strategies that support Customer and / or SCM business needs across a single or multiple site.
  • Works with Celestica, Customers, and Suppliers to provide collaborative solutions that anticipate their business needs.
  • Provides SCM technical, business process, and project leadership to the Buying and Planning community, utilizing local and Regional SCM resources . Advises senior management of process issues, opportunities and recommends action plans.
  • Understands the Customer’s demand and current market supply trends, and works proactively with the Customer, Buyers and Planners to maintain a balanced material supply that includes landed cost considerations and will maximize component cycle times.
  • Participates as the initial SCM materials contact on new product or transfer implementation teams.
  • Provides escalation support for SCM, Customer, or Supplier issues. Utilizes knowledge of the Customer Contract to support SCM strategies
  • Works with Customers and CM Team in driving VAVE activities that will add additional Celestica Strategic Sources to our Customers single/sole sourced Approved Manufacturers List.
  • Negotiates with Suppliers and conducts Value Stream Mapping exercises in improving Contractual terms such as Lead Time, Cancelation LT, Reschedule Window/Times you can reschedule, RTV of Standard components that are Excess or Obsolete and Transfer of Title.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:            

  • Broad knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment, materials and processes.
  • Knowledge of Celestica's global supply chain including strategies and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of IT concepts and systems
  • Excellent knowledge of advanced planning systems and techniques
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Effectively negotiate with Suppliers and collaborate with other internal teams
  • Utilize lean six sigma to root cause problems and put corrective countermeasures in place
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Does complete due diligence in trying to resolve problems and knows when to escalate

 

Physical Demands:

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

 

Typical Experience:

    • Six to eight years relevant experience

 

Typical Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Educational requirements may vary by geography
