Job Description

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Support Bayer CoLaborator, Mission Bay site Facilities and Office/Lab management activities. Help perform quarterly lab inspections, chemical inventory, weekly lab supply shipments and deliveries, meet with CoLaborator tenants daily to follow up on work orders, work with admin to plan summer site events, support in secure SharePoint transfers and help maintain compliance at the site.

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Biotech Management Intern, are to: 

 

  • Provide support in quarterly Lab inspections with HES contractor;
  • Provide support in quarterly chemical inventory by Bayer and CoLab tenants;
  • Provide weekly inventory assistance with lab gases and supplies;
  • Contact and work with suppliers on lab equipment maintenance;
  • Maintain and update Sharepoint and Secure Sharepoint;
  • Plan next monthly event for the site, from Lunch and Learns to volunteer events;
  • Interact daily with CoLab tenants to check on their needs and if their reports due to Bayer are up to date;
  • Develop Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) on current processes that are being defined for the site;
  • Complete quarterly inspections, maintenance and reporting for the labs with HES and Facility;
  • Support CoLaborator function and learn more about start up culture and their needs;
  • Support site events, with planning, communication, procuring, set up and take down.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program with a focus in business, science or biotechnology;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Be able to deal professionally with internal customers of various organizational levels;
  • Be able to work effectively within a departmental team and with members of the same or higher organizational levels;
  • Good organization, documentation, prioritization and scheduling skills together with an overall desire to learn;
  • Basic problem solving and project management abilities together with a professional image;
  • Be able to work independently and multi-task;
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office with beginner level proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought.
