POSITION PURPOSE

Ensure that all details of service area are carried out in accordance with established procedures.

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assures that all preparations are carried out according to the posted Catering order.

  • Knows the menu items and coordinates serving times of each course      according to the Banquet Event Order.

25%

  • Supervises Waithelp during set-up, service and breakdown.

10%

  • Assigns stations, side duties and set-up tasks to Waithelp.  Greets function coordinator and reviews with him/her the Catering order for that particular function.

20%

  • Communicates with guest during the function and attends to their general needs and special requests.

5%

  • Directs pre-function employee meetings.

10%

  • Carries out established opening and closing procedures.

10%

  • Tabulates banquet checks for presentation to guests and collects payments.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

  • Process banquet checks.
  • Completes established banquet captain reports.
  • Responsible for assigned functions as well as to assist the Banquet Manager with supervision at the function.
  • Takes care in assessing the physical condition of the Banquet area (i.e., cleanliness of walls and carpets, condition of equipment).  Submit “Engineering Work Order” as needed to make the report of necessary repairs.
  • Trains Waithelp in their duties.

OTHER

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards which have been established by the hotel from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position.  Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action procedures up to and including termination of employments.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the hotel rules and regulations for the safe efficient operation of the hotel facilities.  Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY

  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of Food & Beverage service
  • Ability to be a leader

 

QUALIFICATIONS & STANDARDS

EXPERIENCE

  • Four years Banquet Waithelp experience and some Banquet Porter experience

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

  • Manager Liquor Card

GROOMING

  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
