Job Description

The Automotive Smart Tech Design Director will be based in Zhanjiang, Shanghai, China. Flex SDIC (Shanghai Design and Innovation Center) is looking for a highly motivated and talented leader for Smart Tech Shanghai team, to deliver engineering and business excellence.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

• Visit customer together with BD team, presenting product line & engineering capability, collecting customer requirement and discussing project engagement & execution
• Work with global smart tech team to define product line, plan for next few years‘ engineering activities for both global and local team
• Direct, control and deep dive into design activities of multiple function teams (EE, ME, SW…), meet project quality, schedule & budget requirement, and improve customer satisfaction
• Partner with Ops team to ensure Engineering & Design activities are well integrated with manufacturing operations including the use of DFx principles.
• Implement appropriate HR Strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce
• Ensure budget, schedules and performance indicators meet corporate guidelines

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):

• More than 15 years’ engineering experience, with BS/MS in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, automation, computer science or related majors
• 5+ years Tier-1 or OEM working experience, and being familiar with US & China OEM process, product requirements and development requirement
• Deep understanding of product planning and detail design know-how in following directions, 2 out 5: interior/exterior lighting, smart overhead console, driver monitor system, HMI/HUD/Display system and Smart Actuators
• Good understanding of project management and engineering resource management
• Expertise and hands on experience in EE, ME, SW or validation
• Demonstrated success bringing complex systems from concept, through development, and into production
• Work in a self-motivating way and autonomously find correct direction to solve problems
• High level of oral and written communication skills, both Chinese & English
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers, supplier & other stake holders
