About The Role:

Working as an LD Translation Apprentice in the RWS Korea office, you will be assigned to general linguistic tasks of Translation, Machine Translation Post-Editing, and Review as instructed by the Team Leader (or Deputy) in Language Delivery Team. You will be requested to be involved in quality feedback provision and implementation, team meetings, and training sessions for Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, localization platforms, or localization processes. By doing so, you will be able to learn basic knowledge and practical experience to follow your career path in the localization industry.

After the contract, a priority opportunity can be given to those interested in applying for the In-house lead translator position whose work scope includes project administration (when the hiring is open).

Those interested in working as freelance translators can register as RWS vendors and continue working with the language delivery team by providing linguistic services. Outsourcing depends on the quality and capacity provided by the individual freelancer.

 

Responsibilities:

• Translation-related linguistic tasks, including Translation, Machine Translation Post-Editing, Review
• Quality Assurance or Quality Check

Training:

• OJT for Translation Apprentice (Introduction to localization process and quality control)
• CAT tool training, including Trados Studio
• TMS platform training, including GroupShare

 

Requirements:

• University degree or equivalent qualifications
• No related work experience needed

 

Priority:

• Creative writing skills in Korean based on an accurate understanding of English source text
• Understands the business email written in English
• A proactive and flexible way of problem-solving and time management skill
• Good knowledge of business software applications (Microsoft Office) and Windows PC
• Good understanding of CAT (Computer Aided Translation) tools
• 1+ years experience in practical translation experience
