Job Purpose:
Assists in QMP including outbound testing for all flavors shipped to Mars Wrigley Confectionary (MWC) manufacturing sites globally. Execute the global laboratory functions. Perform testing using complex analytical instrumentation for the Flavor co-ship program (a positive release program for liquid flavors used at WWY sites), which amounts to 3,600 analytical tests per year for this specific role.
What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering or related technical field.
- Knowledge or experience in Analytical/Sensory Laboratory environment.
- Passion to work in the flavors and food industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years relevant experience in Analytical/Sensory Laboratory environment with proven laboratory methodologies capabilities including food/flavor sensory, Gas Chromatography and Gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS)
- 2+ years relevant experience in Quality and Food Safety systems in a Food/Flavor manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists with R&D Strategy Deployment at the site, improving established ways of working and delivering against key metrics reflected in the company business objectives
- Sustain efficient quality management system in compliance to FSSC22000, FSMA, Mars Laboratory Quality Standard and MARS QMP standards, including CAPA and training programs
- Ensures compliance with Northwestern Flavors Quality Policy for delivering 100% safe products to our customers and is accountable to immediately escalate any problems or issues that could impact the Quality and Food Safety of NFI/MWC products to the Senior QFS Manager and/or Regional Quality Director and NFI Site Manager.
- Provides analysis and technical knowledge of Northwestern Flavors produced flavors and externally procured flavors for MWC operations globally through sensory and analytical testing, assist in developing flavor specification data, and assisting in managing flavor ingredient qualification testing.
- Provides problem solving expertise and knowledge for flavor and laboratory issues which could include flavor quality, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, and company related business concerns related to flavors.
- Assists with special research and developmental projects such as new flavor development, alternate mint qualifications, cost savings / avoidance programs, and process effectiveness and improvements at NFI and Flavor COE team.
- Assists Senior QFS Manager and Scientists Laboratory to ensure the quality of finished products, oversight of laboratory testing and activities and site QFS.
- Assists Senior QFS Manager and Scientists Laboratory for flavor Trade compliance and customs documentation and labeling compliance for import/export; Safety Data Sheet authoring; Halal, Kosher and non-GM compliance; Hazardous material shipping compliance; Any other flavor regulatory activities to ensure ongoing site compliance.
