I. About Global Sources and Buyer Events and Services Department

Global Sources creates, manages and delivers the information that trading partners need to meet and do business. We provide the right information, at the right time, in the right format.

This position is part of a team that works with the world’s largest retailers, brand leading companies, OEM electronics companies, and other large buyers of finished goods and manufactured electronic components in Asia. This team is responsible for engaging these big buyers, running and organizing events for them, as well as introducing and supporting their use of Global Sources’ full range of sourcing-related services and content. This team does this by identifying bottlenecks in the buyers’ current sourcing processes and then recommending the relevant Global Sources’ service to help the buyer save time and lower costs in selecting the best group of potential suppliers.

The team typically works with senior management within these buying organizations, including general managers and managing directors of regional buying or procurement offices; as well as senior procurement and merchandising executives in the customer’s head office. Additionally, the team frequently gives presentations to groups of merchandisers and procurement executives on how to best leverage Global Sources in their daily sourcing work.

II. Job Scope and Objectives:
• To continue to build / enhance GS’ and PSE corporate image though facilitation of Private Sourcing Events and Vendor Summits in over 15 different cities in Greater China (Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan)
• To coordinate team operations and ensure proper planning of all events’ venues
• To provide support to department head on projects so as to achieve departmental objectives

III. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with department head to supervise, motivate and mentor team members to maximize their abilities
• Proactively communicate GS services’ unique advantages to top international buyers in order to engage them to take advantage of PSE
• Expand customer/buyer base to developed and emerging markets with presence in Greater China
• Develop marketing and promotional materials to grow the big buyer community
• Meet half year targets for buyer participation in Private Sourcing Events, Vendor Summits, Global Sources forums, and usage of Global Sources magazines and online tools
• Responsible for supervising each Private Sourcing Events before, during and after the event date
• Work with sales force to collect supplier profiles and match big company procurement teams within Greater China
• Provide support to ad hoc projects as assigned by department head
• Assist department head with event planning and budgeting

IV. Educational Requirement
Graduate degree with focus on Marketing, Sales or International Trade from overseas

V. Experience Required
2-3 years relevant experience

VI. Special Skills Needed

• Good command of written and spoken of English, ideally Mandarin and/or Cantonese as well (another language is a plus)
• Good communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences
• Leadership skills, preferable with experience managing small teams
• Relevant experience on sales and/or purchasing
• Solid track record of leading and closing sales
• First-hand knowledge of merchandising, procurement, or supply chain management
• Good understanding of the mechanics of international trade of finished goods: including sourcing, QA/QC, fulfillment, logistics, and finance
