Job Description
The Rolling Stock Maintenance Manager has responsibility for the safe and fiscally responsible execution of the long-term maintenance contract for a brand-new fleet of high-tech rolling stock. This consists of Tier 4 compliant high-horsepower locomotives in a push-pull configuration with elegant coaches to deliver a high-end customer experience. These trains operate today from West Palm Beach to Miami and in the future will run up to 125 mph from Orlando to Miami 7 days a week! You'll be walking the trains & getting the information handover for the 3:00am-11:30am shift. The candidate will have responsibility for an elite maintenance team to meet the needs of a demanding customer schedule. We incorporate safety as it is the highest priority in all activities, processes, and operations. This safety awareness extends to our customers' operations, where we are not responsible, but we may be aware of safety risks. The diverse team will continue to build an attitude of continuous improvement in their approach to the challenges a long-term maintenance contract has against a fast paced schedule with only the most minimum of downtime of the rolling stock. Are you ready to roll?! You will assist in recruiting, building, training, and empowering a proficient, high-performance maintenance team, establishing operational maintenance strategies including Overhauls, and implementing critical measurements of productivity and efficiency. The maintenance practices and processes require a condition-based approach in coordination with meeting FRA regulations. We're looking for an ambitious and can-do mindset to ensure the team is selecting and implementing the best solutions to sophisticated problems that can occur in a long-term maintenance environment. You will use a Performance Regime to measure the Availability and Reliability of the fleet. Responsibilities: Develop maintenance, overhaul and repair operation financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances. Align monetary resources; develop action plans; measure and analyze results; initiate corrective actions; minimize variances' impact; continuously improve processes. Maintain a very close working relationship with the Customer to ensure the team executes per customer wishes and exceeds their expectations in contracted service levels. Establish and maintain other relationships with appropriate Siemens entities and external contacts, suppliers, trade associations, and relevant government and community organizations. Ensure that all organization activities and operations align with local, state, and federal/national regulations and laws. This position requires a consistent track record of operational accomplishments from a multi-product and refurbishment/overhaul environment. Specific qualifications include: A Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or technical equivalent experience. An excellent record of leadership with five or more years of management experience, including at least eight years of railroad maintenance. Experience in dealing with the FRA / CFRs, knowledge of applicable law and regulations Capacity and workforce planning Develop and maintain appropriate critical metrics Knowledge of: Metal fabrication, welding, basic mechanical knowledge, structured failure analysis and failure search, understanding of the customer, strategic planning, technical management, promoting process improvement, maintenance control planning, developing standards, supervising budget expenses, documentation skills, control engineering, quality management, financial management. Attributes: Strong interpersonal skills and a dynamic personality are needed to optimally collaborate with people at all levels within the organization, customer, and community. A collaborative management style that can empower and develop this new team and new processes. Ability to continually challenge the status quo, providing strong leadership for continuous improvement of results and efficiency. Able to focus on the short-term needs yet also setting long-range goals.
