Applications are invited for the following post in the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development, which is located in the Hong Kong Science Park.
Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development
Assistant Director (PR0114/20-21)
Reporting to the Director of the Centre, the appointee should be an integrative and collaborative leader who is responsible for the formulation and implementation of strategic plans and the new drug development programmes as well as overseeing the overall administration and operation of the Centre.
Job Duties:
- To oversee the progress of new drug development and investigational new drug (IND) application locally and globally;
- To formulate and implement policies and procedures for drug development;
- To collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and oversee the execution of good clinical practice (GCP), good laboratory practice (GLP), and good manufacturing practice (GMP) processes;
- To design, implement and manage the risk-based Quality Systems to comply with regulations of GCP, GLP and GMP;
- To manage routine audit conducted by external consultants;
- To collaborate with supported functions to develop and implement inspection readiness plans;
- To oversee quality control and promote compliance awareness throughout the Centre; and
- To undertake any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A postgraduate degree or above in a discipline related to medicine or allied health;
- At least 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical research and/or in relevant industry. Knowledge of drug research and drug development will be advantageous;
- Competency in new drug application and registration locally and globally, such as China’s National Medical Products Administration, the United States Food and Drug Administration, etc.;
- Experience in leading and executing the risk-based quality and compliance strategies;
- An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua);
- Strong ability to prioritize and operate with a sense of urgency;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of the Centre;
- Exhibits integrity and commitment to high ethical and compliance standards; and
- Capable of working independently and being an effective leader.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written assessment.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
