YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Bayer seeks high energy interns ready to help shape the future by confronting new challenges, embracing new experiences and taking on increasing responsibilities.  Learn about Bayer’s mechanical integrity program.  In this role, you will learn to understand technical drawings and documentation organization, experience equipment walk-downs and review, evaluate, and update technical drawings for machinery.

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Area Reliability Engineering & Planning Summer Intern, are to: 

 

  • Review Bayer’s mechanical integrity program’s standard operating procedures;
  • Partner with technical system owners in equipment walk downs to verify detailed technical drawings;
  • Perform equipment walk downs independently;
  • Review, evaluate and update SOPs and drawings as needed;
  • Oversee mechanical integrity tests.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Currently enrolled in a Master or PhD engineering program focused in mechanical, chemical or industrial engineering; with one year remaining prior to graduation;
  • Must be available to start some work days at 6a.m. (40 hours/week);
  • Work may require entry into mechanical chases which can have steep stairs and low ceiling.  Must be able to meet these physical demands;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to deal professionally with internal customers of various organizational levels;
  • Ability to work effectively within a departmental team and with members of the same or higher organizational levels;
  • Good organization, documentation, prioritization and scheduling skills together with an overall desire to learn;
  • Basic problem solving and project management abilities together with a professional image.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task;
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office with beginner level proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought.
