Position Summary:

• Takes complete ownership of Design and Development phases of Enterprise Applications SDLC as they relate to projects.

• Works closely with various IT vendors who provide services for the Matson Logistics group.

• Organize and manage resource requirements and priorities effectively for appropriate Enterprise Applications group. Proactively approach relevant teams and other peers in determining best use of team resources, including schedules and resource allocation based on individual skill sets

• Ensure delivery of enterprise applications on time, under budget with high quality conforming to enterprise architecture laid out by Enterprise Architecture team

• Provide application support to end users during and after application deployment and stabilization phases

• Routinely meet with business constituents to prioritize work requests, balancing the business value with the cost of development to provide maximum return on IT investment

• Proactively find improvement opportunities to streamline business processes and subsequently design and implement software solutions, mitigating investment in the legacy environment

Accountabilities:

1) Work with software engineering team that develops and/or supports enterprise applications.

2) Provide assistance to the application development team in designing, developing and supporting enterprise applications.

3) Work with business unit representatives and Matson customers to define and prioritize enhancements to enterprise applications.

4) Work with team members on design and architecture guidelines as they migrate their skill sets to the target platforms.

5) Keep abreast of current technology and recommend economic and productivity improvements.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S in computer related field) from four-year college or university is required. Five or more years of related work experience with increasingly responsible positions in software development is required.

Advanced degree in Management or engineering is preferable.

Skills

1. The individual should have experience with full life cycle development.

• Technology – Hands on experience of software development and design in one of the follow environments:

o Distributed architecture including OOP / OOD concepts, J2EE, RDBMS, OLTP, OLAP, application servers, Portals, EAI & ETL tools. Hands on experience with BEA WebLogic / WLI server, JSP, Javascript, HTML, XML, SQL, iPlanet and Oracle database is highly desirable. Experience in DB/2, Service Oriented Architecture, .NET, COM/DCOM is desirable. Some exposure to RUP & UML or similar software development methodology is highly desirable.

o Some experience working with vendors who provide Software As a Service is highly desirable.

o PC applications using C++, Paradox, Access, Excel, DB2 and DOS batch.

o Experience in GenTran, HawkEye, Catapult, MPLUS and MS Access are highly desirable.

• Transportation Vertical – Hands on experience of software development, design and management of applications for one or more of the following sectors:

o Supply Chain Management: PO management, customs clearance, supplier co-ordination, origin services, landed cost management, transportation management at origin and destination.

o EDI with all players in the transportation ecosystem including: customs, suppliers, customers, ocean, rail and trucking carriers, 3PL providers and warehouses,

o Knowledge and expertise in the area of Non Vehicle Owner Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) including rate maintenance, audit, interfacing with asset and non asset based carriers. Good understanding of documentation requirements for NVOCC operators including: Bill of Lading, Cargo Receipt, Freight Cargo Receipt, Customs Paper, ISF, China export customs documents, dock receipts, carrier shipping instructions, etc.

o Knowledge and experience working with transportation services vendors such as GT-Nexus, Log-Net, Oracle TMS

2. Good English in both written and oral.
