Description: This position is a member of the admission team at Tianjin Juilliard School and collaborates with the Associate Dean for Enrollment Management and the Director of Pre-College Admission on aspects of pre-collegiate enrollment. This person should be fluent in both Mandarin and English and have a background in Western Classical Music. They should have at least two years of work experience and should be able to provide exceptional customer service to applicants and their families. Responsibilities will include supporting prospective students and their parents, coordinating outreach to school and faculty recruitment activities, processing applications, and scheduling auditions. It is preferable to have had experience working or studying outside of China or with a joint-venture institution.
Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Manage email and phone communication with prospective students
- Meet with prospective students to provide program and application information, as well as counsel on the application process
- Meet with parents and teachers of pre-college applicants to explain programs of study and application process
- After point of application, follow up regularly with applicants to guide them through the process
- Provide tours of campus
- Work closely with Associate Dean and Director of Pre-College Admission after admission decisions have been released to yield admitted students
- Represent the school at on and off-campus recruitment events, including school visits
- Connect faculty with prospective students during the admission cycle, including facilitating consultative lessons
- Schedule faculty master classes on and off-campus
Collaboration with other TJS Departments
- Pre-College: create excellent channels of communication with the Pre-College Operations team, including coordinating visits to feeder schools, collaboration on events such as orientations, testing days, and open houses, and facilitating the smooth transition of an admitted student to a matriculated student
- Marketing and Communications: create excellent channels of communication with the Marketing and Communications department, including creating content for Chinese social media platforms, website updates, and content for printed recruitment materials
Record Maintenance
- Process and maintain pre-collegiate applicant materials, including pre-screening recordings
- Operate fluently within the application and Customer Relationship Management System, Slate, including mailings, query and report exports, data analysis and applicant record management
- Enter inquiry requests into Slate
- Prepare applicant files for the Admission Committees
- Upload audition recordings to applicant records
- Schedule applicants for auditions
Scheduling and Support
- Coordinate applicant pre-screening process with the faculty
- Work closely with Director of Admission to coordinate all audition processes, including organization of auditions, audition evaluation forms and all necessary paperwork
- Coordinate audition room schedules, including room requirements and set-up
- Book recruitment travel for pre-collegiate admission team and faculty
Other Responsibilities
- Oversee excellent and culturally sensitive customer service to a predominately Chinese applicant pool
- Remain curious, positive, and engaged in developing good systems, practices, and customer service as programs are launched and continue to evolve
- Other duties, as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of administrative experience
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English
- Experience with Western Classical Music, preferably as a performer
- Knowledge of global network of peer institutions, and educational systems both in China and the United States
- Experience with computer applications, web-based tools, and social media
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well-developed organizational, analytical, and administrative skills
- Goal-oriented and self-motivated
- Able to manage a broad scope of responsibilities, maintaining attention to quality and detail
- Good diplomatic skills and professional attitude
- Strong integrity

- Some travel within China may be required
Preferred Background:
- Higher education degree in the performing arts
- Work experience, with intermediate level of responsibility, within an admission office in higher education and the arts
- Experience studying, working, or living in another country
- Experience working within a student database and customer relationship management system
