The Accountant III will support the North America accounting function within the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a member of the Revenue team, key responsibilities include:

• Performs month-end close activities, including journal entry preparation
• Performs account reconciliations for revenue-related accounts and any other assigned areas
• Ensures compliance with US GAAP, the company’s revenue recognition policies and SOX controls
• Reviews and analyzes sales orders and service agreements to evaluate and identify potential revenue recognition issues (i.e. complex language, omissions of data, necessary additions, language changes)
• Collects and reviews documentation (i.e. proof of delivery, customer acceptance) to ensure revenue recognition conditions have been met
• Reviews licensing contracts for proper accounting treatment
• Supports the Finance teams by assisting with revenue recognition related questions
• Documents work product using available systems and tools
• Participates in projects related to process improvement
• Supports ad-hoc tasks and requests as needed

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Strong accounting background (revenue recognition experience a plus)

• Experience with automated accounting (ERP) systems (HFM, SAP, JD Edwards/E1, Oracle R12 a plus)
• Life science industry experience a plus

• Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting)

• 3+ years of accounting experience
