Job Description
Regular Teaching Requirements:
a. Classroom teaching: There will be 16 regular classroom teaching hours per week for at least 16 weeks per semester. Teaching will focus on English for Academic Purposes and may include listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Teaching is expected to take place face-to-face on campus, but some online teaching may also be required.
b. Specific teaching assignments: Specific teaching assignments will be provided by the programme coordinator ahead of the start of each semester.
c. Working weeks: English instructors are required to observe the university calendar of each semester and ensure their availability during all working weeks.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Tutors are required to assess students and give feedback on draft written work, grade final submissions, and assess students’ presentation skills.
• Tutors are expected to formatively assess students and take a contingent approach to teaching and learning. This requires weekly planning meetings and designing tasks and lessons to meet the learning outcomes indicated in the syllabus.
• Tutors are required to attend weekly or fortnightly staff meetings and be open to formative classroom observation and appraisal from the senior AET and/or programme coordinators.
• Tutors are expected to fulfil other duties as assigned, which may include: record keeping (attendance, summative assessment, continuous assessment) office hours, training sessions, compliance with official administrative regulations, etc.
AET will work at Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Sciences & Technology (GDIC) . It is located at South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou.
Founded in 2020, GDIC is a joint international college established in collaboration between, University College Dublin (UCD) and South China Agricultural University (SCAU).
