Part-Time ESL Teacher
Shanghai Xuhui Enrichment AcademyShanghaiUpdate time: March 17
Job Description
Position 4 – Part-time ESL Teacher (Summer Session)
School Description
JadeClass is an English-language training center based in Shanghai that is fully-licensed by the Shanghai Education Commission. We provide enrichment education to bright Chinese students who plan on attending university abroad. Our students vary in age from 6-16 and are carefully screened for English level, behavior, and motivation. We select only the most motivated students and help them achieve success not just in testing but also in adapting to a Western-style learning environment—a process we have been perfecting since our founding in 2008.
Our current program offerings include small-group classes in ESL, literature, creative writing, science, mathematics, social studies, and history.
We are seeking talented educators to collaborate with our existing team of teachers and curriculum designers. In particular, this person will have experience teaching kindergarten and primary-level students.
Job Description
• Teach ESL/English classes from JadeClass materials
• Maximum class size of 6 students
• Classes are 2 hours in length
• Classes are highly interactive with students evaluated in part on their participation
• Compensation is after-tax and is based on hours taught
• No office hours are required. All of our lesson materials are provided, so our part-time teachers are not responsible for any lesson planning.
• No grading is required. All grading is performed by our full-time teachers and support staff.
School Schedule
We run two 3-week sessions during the summer, and adhere to the following schedule except when government-required rescheduling occurs:
• Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with classes scheduled between the hours of 8am and 8:30pm.
• Part-time teachers can work the first 3 weeks (July 15 – August 2), the second 3 weeks (August 5 – August 23), or all 6 weeks.
Compensation

• A competitive after-tax rate of 275-350 RMB per hour of teaching, depending on qualifications and experience
• Completion bonus of 25 RMB per hour taught if no classes are missed
