Oracle’s Java Platform Group is looking for a software engineer with experience in managed runtimes and garbage collection to join their world class development team. Responsibilities:
- Design and implement new Java Virtual Machine garbage collection features and optimizations
- Collaborate with the OpenJDK community on potential contributions
- Work through the Java Community Process process to specify and standardize new Java Virtual Machine (JVM) features
- Work closely with the rest of the engineering team to review designs and ensure optimum JVM execution performance
- Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in C++ and multi-threaded development
- Working knowledge of Java development
- Self-motivated and able to independently drive development efforts
- Strong communication and team work skills
- Strong grasp of garbage collection and systems fundamentals with 10 years garbage collection, memory management or virtual machine related experience
- Hands-on experience with the Java Community Process is highly desirable
- 15 years of software engineering or related experience
- BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.

BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
