About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and talented technical writer to contribute to the technical documentation for RWS’s content creation, management and delivery products targeted at the aerospace and defense industry. You will work as part of a distributed agile team and as part of RWS's global DevOps organization. Our Contenta Publishing Suite is deployed by some of the largest corporations and military agencies across the world! It is used for the creation, management, publishing and delivery of technical information to support everything from the most recent and advanced aircraft and ships to other complex assets. We are in the process of developing the next generation of capabilities for our global customers to take advantage of emerging concepts such as predictive maintenance, AR/VR, Machine Learning, guided assistants and other advanced technologies.

Required Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Skilled writer with demonstrated ability to learn technical aspects of complex software products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, product managers and colleagues in individual and group settings.
  • Familiar with the internals of Content Management Systems (CMS) and standards like DITA, XML, DTD, XSD.
  • Experience producing documentation using DITA or other topic/component based CMS
  • Strong organizational skills that combine seeing the big picture with having an eye for detail.
  • Ability to apply agile documentation strategies within Scrum development iterations.
  • Team player who has a “can do” attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter; able to identify and take leadership of issues and drive them to a resolution.
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a technical writer in a software environment.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Define, communicate, and manage product documentation plans and schedules.
  • Working as part of multiple agile Scrum teams, create and update technical documentation for RWS’s content management and delivery products using RWS’s Tridion Docs products and other authoring tools to produce deliverables in both print and dynamic electronic form. 
  • Contribute to and follow best practices for documentation within Scrum teams.
  • Collaborate with global RWS technical documentation team to coordinate on best practices and represent needs of the product line.
  • Contribute to roadmap, design, QA and release management.
  • Create documentation delivery that continues to set RWS apart in the world.
