The Process Development organization at Amgen develops, characterizes, and leads the commercialization of the drug substance manufacturing processes for all late-stage and commercial programs across the Amgen portfolio. This role provides opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through partnership with colleagues in the wider Process Development, Manufacturing, and Quality organizations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Application of fundamental principles of purification sciences to design and execute small-scale experiments supporting the investigation, development, characterization, and optimization of commercial programs.

  • Apply problem-solving skills to rapidly find solutions to process challenges.

  • Ability to collaborate both in a team as well as work independently in a compliant manner passionate about safety and data integrity.

  • Demonstrate the desire to develop sophisticated technical skills and scientific knowledge in purification, thereby further contributing to the coordinated group.

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Scientific or Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications (Associate Scientist)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or other relevant sciences.

  • Purification sciences problem-solving experience in both a process development and commercial manufacturing support environment.

  • Expertise operating Tecan, AKTA, small-scale column packing.

  • Demonstration of yield improvement, optimization, and cost savings ideas.

  • Excellent verbal communication and scientific writing skills.

  • Demonstrated success working with a diverse team in a dynamic, multi-functional environment.

  • Experience applying design of experiments and statistical analysis of data.
