The Lead Field Engineer, Power Delivery Automation role, will provide engineering and execution and direction and assistance to the work group in order to meet assigned objectives.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with, HSE Safety Manual and Safety policy.
  • Perform full system design of controls systems, including solutions and applications engineering, system design, hardware design, PLC and HMI programming and configuration, startup and commissioning
  • Perform sales support, design, engineering and installation, and ongoing maintenance / repair of contracted and non-contracted Controls and power distribution equipment.
  • Provide technical support for customers on operational and/or maintenance aspects of the services being provided.
  • Work directly with customers and ABB sales / service team to identify new service opportunities, develop and issue proposals and execute work scope
  • Plan, organize, and perform multifunctional field assignments in designated areas of expertise, directing the work of other field engineers and craft labor as required, in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform administrative functions in a timely manner that are associated with your work; such as writing technical reports, ordering necessary materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, expense tracking sheets, and cost control activities. Such tasks must be completed on a timely, and thorough basis.
  • Maintain knowledge of the report system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information necessary
  • Perform collateral duties as assigned to meet business needs as they relate to HSE
  • (Health, Safety, &Environmental), Quality, Integrity, etc.

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 additional years of related engineering / field experience).
  • Ability to build strong customer relationship and strong business acumen and ability to sell ABB to the customer.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time both domestically and internationally, as required to support the assigned district and externally as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.
  • ABB will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Specific technical skills in PLC’s to AB PLC, GE/Emerson PLC, and other vendors.
  • HMI software and system integration.
  • Experience in the design, fabrication, and refurbishment of bus systems as related to open and metal enclosed switchgear applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
