Objectives & Responsibilities:
Creates levels and implements gameplay scenarios: layout, modeling, event scripting, balance, and tuning.
Builds gameplay flow using existing mechanics.
Paces gameplay experience and creates mood.
Works independently and uses self-critique.
Shares ideas – critique of other’s work, the pipeline, and the game.
Works collaboratively with the audio department.
Works with programmers to handle technical challenges.
Provides solid analysis of game products.
Mentors less experienced members of the team.
Regularly offers feedback on tools and pipeline.
Qualifications:
3 or more years of level design experience.
Completed at least 2 full development cycles as a game designer.
Experience using game editing tools.
Experience with Unreal Engine or Radiant.
World building and scenario design experience: feature implementation, AI scripting, 3D geometry layout modeling, gameplay testing, using gameplay tools, and level visualization.
Strong experience in level event scripting.
Strong 3D visualization and modeling skills, Maya 8.5 (or higher) experience preferred.
Conceptual understanding of gameplay: controller sensibility, interface design, goals and reward schedules, level pacing, and storytelling.
Strong game literacy in console games, particularly FPS.
Proven success in defining and communicating the creative vision and fun factor while executing design and working through design revisions.
Experience working with artists and programmers in a collaborative environment.
