Job Description

Job Outline

The post holder will be responsible for developing an open, transparent and engaged health, safety and security culture across the entire Campus, and maintaining a good H&S awareness in education and promotion at all levels of the organization. The post holder will also be expected to contribute the central coordination/promotion for departmental activities, and support the development of a diverse, knowledgeable and empowered community where health, safety and security is visible and valued.

Qualification

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety or equivalent;
  • Strong written, communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese;
  • Proven IT skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office application, other office apps;
  • Confident, self-motivated, fast learner and adapt for new working environment quickly;
  • Excellent planning and organization capability;
  • Positive approach to customer care and continuous service improvement;
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Identify and set priorities and work accurately and to deadlines;
  • Ability to work/respond independently and deal with unforeseen problems and circumstances;
  • Ability to communicate and build working relationships with key contacts from other school/departmental/work units as well as external bodies, to support own work activities;
  • Interpretation and implementation of work related regulations to international standards;
  • Digital marketing and communications expertise in social media tools;

Desirable

  • Relevant Master’s degree;
  • Familiarity with large and complex organizations and/or the Higher Education sector;
  • Working experiences within health and safety work area;

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report and advise to the Director of the Security and Safety Office and support his/her strategic objectives of the University’s security, safety and health management;
  • Centrally coordinate and deliver the departmental training programme as planned and monitor the satisfaction of its implementation;
  • Conduct health, safety and security awareness training and coaching to all levels of the University premises;
  • Plan and organize awareness promotion activities through various approaches, and exploit new creative approaches, e.g. digital and e-learning Moodle opportunities;
  • Engage with student organization/society to enhance awareness and behavior change among student community;
  • Regularly plan and organize practical drills on risk control and emergency response;
  • Maintain and update the departmental SharePoint and WeChat;
  • Prepare and issue the handbook, newsletter, video and related promotional materials for awareness promotion purposes;
  • Investigate the reported incidents/accidents and follow up with recommendation of corrective and preventive action;
  • Review and optimize department documentation for internal and external inspection, and support to establish e-document/form as required;
  • Member of the University Health and Safety Committee, follow up the relevant issues from the Committee to ensure that the Committee directives are carried out;
  • Prepare monthly/semester/annual updates and government reports as necessary;
  • Participate in training and staff development events as trainer or trainee as appropriate;
  • Maintain appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness;
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be required.
