General Accountability

Tartan Energy Group currently has an opportunity for a senior design Mechanical Engineer to join our mid-stream research and development team in China. As the successful candidate you will work closely with other engineers and drafters to deliver timely and technically sound results. A demonstrated ability to work effectively with other team members in a fast-paced business environment is essential.

Specific Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing Tartan’s high-pressure vessel products which includes but not limited to the following aspects: designing pressure vessels, rotary equipment selection, instrumentation design and equipment sizing.
• Complete mechanical analysis of design (e.g. thermal, hydrodynamical, mechanical stress, etc.)
• Assisting and participation in filing grant applications to different funding agencies.
• Support the creation of feasibility studies for new products being proposed for development with focus on the detailed design, sizing and manufacturing.
• Develop test processes for verifying that a new product or fixture meets the standards.
• Participate in design reviews of new products under development and provide feedback regarding the manufacturability of design choices being made
• Provide technical support to other departments when requested (e.g. support the qualification of a new supplier, provide additional design capacity to the design team etc.)
• Create and maintain engineering drawings for custom components using 3D modeling software
• Investigate the root cause of mechanical problems and develop solutions to those problems.
• Follow safety precautions and guidelines when working with hazardous materials, heavy loads, electrical circuits, equipment, etc.
• Be familiar with the manufacturing processes used to produce the products being designed
• Assist senior engineers and project managers;
• Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Experience in pressure vessel design and detailed equipment sizing.
• Expert in 3D modelling software such as Ansys, SolidWorks, etc.
• Must have excellent critical thinking ability.
• Experience assisting project engineering leads and managers in project design and execution to meet client schedules.
• Adept at writing technical reports and scopes of work.
• Proficient with MS Office software and various engineering software programs.
• Multi-tasking, Self-motivated, innovative, multi-tasking yet pragmatic.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills both orally and written.
• Responsiveness to quality issues and customer concerns.
• Positive attitude, willingness to support others.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of mechanical design experience and detailed sizing in oil and gas industries, together with experience in mechanical manufacturing and production is mandatory.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
