Key Responsibilities

• Design screening cascades and implement HTS, hit triage and interpret the results of DMPK and toxicological profiling.

• Work closely with medicinal chemistry, structural biology and DMPK teams and help select and advance screening hits.

• Explore molecular targets (mode of actions) of hit/lead/candidate compounds.

• Initiate, facilitate and organize domestic and international collaborations with academic and industrial partners.

• Take a leadership role for data analysis and nominate strategies.

• Mentor team members and help them trouble shoot.

• Develop written reports and oral presentations for monthly and quarterly meetings and annual reports.

• Present findings at international meetings and publish to scientific journals.

Minimum Requirements

• Have a Ph.D in parasitology, microbiology, vector biology, molecular biology, chemical biology or any related area with minimum of 0-2 years of post-graduate research experiences for the Institute Fellow position and 2 to 7 years experiences for the Scientist or Investigator position. MDs who are interested in tropical medicine/public health or DVMs who are interested in tropical zoonotic/livestock diseases or comparative medicine are also encouraged to apply.

• Have broad understanding of cutting-edge technologies and challenges in anti-microbial drug discovery for neglected diseases.

• Have basic knowledge of pre-clinical drug discovery efforts including in vitro/in vivo assay design, compound profiling/triaging, understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmcodynamics, and medicinal chemistry.

• Have excellent oral and written English communication skills.

• Be capable of working in an interactive and multidisciplinary team environment while conducting self-directed research within broader goals set by the group.

• Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact effectively with an international network of laboratories and disease experts.

• Be meticulous in maintaining lab notebooks and data files.

• The applicants should demonstrate a proven track record of scientific achievements and creative problem-solving skills.

• Those with in-depth knowledge in genome editing, chemical biology, systems biology, parasite genomics, biomarker discovery, host immunity, vector biology, or in vivo animal model studies will be preferred.

• Hands-on experiences in in vitro cell culture, microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular biology are ideal, but not required.
