The European Chamber is an independent, non-profit, advocacy organisation governed by and for our members. We have over 1,600 members spread across 7 different Chapters in China, representing foreign-invested enterprises of all sizes from a wide range of business sectors operating across China. With 25 working groups and forums, the Chamber represents almost all European industries operating in China.
Job description
We are looking for a Membership Coordinator for our Shanghai Chapter who can support the membership and events department to build relationships with our members, improve their engagement and develop new sponsorship and advertising accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
Membership Retention
- Follow-up for renewal payments and secure members retention is improved year on year, ensuring revenue targets are met
- Communicate membership benefits and activities to members, potential members and other interested parties.
- Work with and support the Membership and Events team and the Government Affairs (GA) team to ensure new and existing members are benefiting from their membership.
- Manage administration related to membership, including issuing receipts, preparing agreements, membership certificates and updating membership related information in the backend.
- Prepare and analyze monthly membership reports and other ad-hoc reports as needed.
Sponsorship and Advertising
- Develop and execute a sales plan to identify opportunities for potential sponsors, advertisers and privilege partners.
- Ensure thorough prospect identification, perform preliminary research and develop proposals, contracts, make sales presentations and negotiations and follow through the closure of sale.
The primary responsibilities of the Membership Coordinator are to promote the European Chamber to new and existing members, manage relations with members, communicate membership benefits and activities to members and other interested parties and develop new sponsorship and advertising opportunities.
This position includes a base salary, a sponsorship and advertising sales commission, and an annual bonus which is linked to the performance of the employee and the targets delivered.
Skills & experience
- University degree in International Business, International Relations, Marketing or other Business-related subject.
- At least 2 years of related experience in sales, customer relations or business development role.
- Chinese native speaker, strong written and verbal communication skills in both English, other languages are a plus.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills (both verbal and written) to address all levels within organizations.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- A passion for sales and delivering targets.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Flexible and proactive, with a team-player attitude
