This position works closely with the Artistic Director and Dean in implementing and administering policy in the areas below and provides day-to-day oversight and management of instrumental studio faculty and performance activities.
Responsibilities:
1, Works closely with Artistic Director and Dean in administering a wide range of student, faculty, and staff issues.
2, Oversees day-to-day operations and makes critical decisions in the absence of the Artistic Director and Dean.
3, Supervises the Orchestra Manager and the Chamber Music Manager, providing oversight of staff, operations, and budgets of all instrumental performance activities.
4, Supervises Director of Music Technology and Director of Concert operations as well as Chief Piano Technician, providing oversight of staff and operations; Tracks income and expenditures for these areas; makes necessary adjustments in budgets and disbursements.
5, Works closely with the Artistic Director and Dean and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to coordinate and track curriculum changes and assignments.
6, Counsels and advises students, as needed, on academic performance and disciplinary issues.
7, Co-chairs the Performance Activities meetings and serves on various committee.
8, Coordinates performance and academic classes and events for key individual faculty and guest faculty as needed.
9, Manages student loan requests for instruments, and oversees the budgets and payments for instrument repairs and purchases.
10, Schedules and manages Departmental Master Classes in individual instruments as needed. Oversees budgets and payments for all master classes and studio classroom guest lecturers. Maintains a master calendar for all such activities.
11, Supervises work study students in Performance Activities and manages annual work study budget.
Qualifications:
1, Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
2, Five years plus of administrative experience, preferably in performing arts organizations.
3, Fluent in both Mandarin and English.
4, Well-developed organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
5, Extensive knowledge and experience with classical music tradition.
6, Strong awareness of higher education trends, and educational systems both in China and the United States.
7, Able to manage a broad scope of responsibilities while maintaining attention to quality and detail.
